Jay is well known in Vermont, having competed in state and regional events for 30 years. A professional teacher since 1985, he started Vermont Sign School and has taught design and manufacturing around the world. Those educational programs provided a solid base for knowing how to connect with students and the ability to teach the same skill in a multitude of ways.
Chris has been Jay’s golf mentor for decades, providing instruction and course management skills for dozens of his competitive events, including helping him win the Vermont Mid Amateur Championship. The last two years, Jay has studied extensively with Chris in golf school management and individual instruction and has been certified to teach at all levels.
I’ve been blessed my entire golfing life, starting with high school coach and legendary professional Paul Runyan. He was our mentor and helped us become ladies and gentlemen on the course while we were growing to love the game. My cousin, PGA touring professional Justin Leonard, has always been an inspiration. And recently I’ve had the great good fortune to learn under professionals Chris Clewes and Ron Philo. For the past 5 years I’ve had a budding love affair with Copley Country Club, a secluded 81 year old gem in northern Vermont. Our members love the game and share an uncommon sense of community and fellowship. Guests never forget the quiet walk and wonderful hospitality. Vermont is a special place, and golf in Vermont rarely disappoints. It will be a privilege to take students onto this lovely track and help them discover their games.
